Event Rules & Recommendations
- All machines must be currently registered for public land use.
- Mufflers with an approved spark arrestor are required on all OHVs.
- Wearing a helmet is mandatory on public land for riders under the age of 18.
- We encourage everyone to wear a helmet as it can save your life in case of an emergency. Properly worn, a helmet won’t reduce vision or hearing and helps cut out windblasts.
- We highly recommend the use of protective gear - gloves, abrasion-resistant clothing, over-the-ankle boots, etc.
Rider Protocol
Anyone under 18 can operate an OHV on public land (no longer an 8-year-old minimum age requirement) if they are able to reach and operate each control necessary to safely operate the vehicle, have an OHV education certificate or a valid Driver’s License in their possession, AND are under direct adult supervision.
Adult Supervision is Required When:
- The rider is under 18.
- The rider does not possess a valid driver’s license. (Note: A learner's permit requires a licensed parent/guardian to be seated next to the driver).
- Operating an OHV on a public highway that is 1) open to motor vehicles and 2) not exclusively reserved for OHV use.
